The core idea behind my work is that, as adults, things happen to us that change how we view the world and how we make sense of it. Jane Loevinger captured this idea in her ideas of personality, which she called “ego development”.
This consists of 8 stages of adult development. With each stage, individuals see greater complexity, handle the conflict between their needs and those of others, and have a greater degree of emotional resonance with those around them.
I believe these stages could impact how we lead. I have already been into schools and beginning to identify how each of these 8 stages of adult development look like for school leadership.
